Banglalink Launches Nationwide Wi-Fi Calling Service

[Dhaka, January 8, 2026] Banglalink, the country’s leading innovative digital operator, has officially launched its nationwide Voice over Wi Fi (VoWiFi) calling service, enabling customers across Bangladesh to make high quality voice calls using Wi Fi alongside mobile networks.

With the nationwide rollout, customers can now enjoy HD voice quality and uninterrupted calling through home or office Wi Fi—particularly in locations where mobile coverage is challenging, such as high-rise buildings, dense structures, rural communities, and remote locations.

Banglalink first introduced VoWiFi on a pilot basis in September 2025, becoming the first mobile operator in Bangladesh to deploy the technology. The pilot, conducted in selected areas of Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna, allowed the service to be tested and optimized based on real world performance and customer feedback.

The VoWiFi service automatically routes calls through available Wi Fi networks when mobile signals are weak, while functioning like regular voice calls in all other aspects. It requires no app downloads or separate authentication, ensures seamless switching between Wi Fi and mobile networks.

He added that the successful nationwide rollout reflects strong collaboration among mobile operators, regulators, ISPs, and technology partners, demonstrating how collective innovation can expand digital access and enhance customer experience.

Currently, Wi Fi Calling is available on selected handset models in line with regulatory requirements and through selected ISP partners. Banglalink is actively working with device manufacturers and ISPs to expand availability in compliance with regulatory guidelines. The service complements Banglalink’s LTE network, further strengthening indoor and remote connectivity.

The nationwide launch of VoWiFi adds to Banglalink’s growing portfolio of digital services—including MyBL, Toffee, RYZE, and enterprise solutions—reinforcing the company’s commitment to bridging connectivity gaps and supporting Bangladesh’s digital transformation.
