UK Bangla Reporters Unity’s Election-2026 Concludes with a 15-Member New Committee

London: On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 4 PM London time, the general meeting and election of the UK Bangla Reporters Unity were held at the Micro Business Centre in East London. The first session featured the annual general meeting, presided over by the outgoing president, Sajidur Rahman, and conducted by the organization’s secretary, Mizanur Rahman Miru. The second session involved the election. The election was overseen by former Tower Hamlets Councilor and Speaker Ahbar Hossain, journalist Mosleh Uddin, and former Tower Hamlets Councilor and Speaker Khalis Uddin Ahmed.
Sixty voters of the organization exercised their voting rights. Muhammad Shahed Rahman, the founder president and London representative of Dhaka Post, was re-elected president unopposed for a second term. Other elected positions include Senior Vice President S.K.M. Ashraful Huda (receiving 49 votes). Two vice presidents were elected: Imdadun Khanam (30 votes) and Saheda Rahman (26 votes). Abdul Bashir was elected as the General Secretary. Among three candidates for Assistant Secretary, two were elected: A. Rahman Oli, Editor of NRB UK Channel and London representative of Daily Habiganj Express, received the highest votes with 54, and Asma Matin, London representative of Red Times, received 39 votes. Jannatul Ferdous Dolly won the Organizing and Training Secretary position with 31 votes, defeating competitor Misbaul Haque with 24 votes.
Other uncontested elected positions include Mirza Abul Kasem as Treasurer. Anwarul Haque Shaheen was elected Assistant Treasurer unopposed after another candidate withdrew. Suhel Ahmed was elected Media and IT Secretary, with no other candidates. Similarly, Imran Talukdar was elected Event Management and Facilities Secretary. Elected EC Members include Dr. Ansar Ahmed Ullah, Contributing Editor of Satyabani, Md. Sajidur Rahman of J Times TV, and Mizanur Rahman Miru, presenter of Ikrabangla TV.
