In a strategic move to redefine bilateral trade, the Bangladesh-Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BPCCI) has recently shared the ‘Bridging Nations, Building Prosperity’ roadmap at a high-level summit held in a renowned hotel in Baridhara, Dhaka. Introduced by the advisor of BPCCI, the roadmap aims to institutionalize cooperation across agro-processing, tourism, and healthcare, marking a new era of economic integration between the two nations.
On the presentation, the adviser of BPCCI Humayun Rashid outlined key priority sectors that hold immense potential for bilateral collaboration, skill exchange, and sustainable mutual growth between Bangladesh and the Philippines. He emphasized three strategic pillars for the proposed trade collaboration: Agro-processing, Tourism and Connectivity, Healthcare and Skill Development. These pillars are expected to serve as foundational areas for fostering deeper partnerships, technology transfer, and joint ventures that will benefit businesses and communities in both nations.
Her Excellency Nina P. Cainglet, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Bangladesh, graced the occasion and spoke warmly about the strengthening friendship and expanding partnership between the two countries. She reaffirmed the Philippine Embassy’s strong commitment to advancing trade, investment, and development cooperation, particularly in view of the upcoming 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and the Philippines next year.
Honorable Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam, Secretary (Bilateral) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, was present at the event as a special guest. Nazrul Islam highlighted the untapped economic potential between the Philippines and Bangladesh. Based on the outcome of the recently concluded foreign policy discussions, he welcomed the signing of an agreement on mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates and the upcoming signing of an agreement on nursing education and capacity building.
The event highlighted a shared commitment from both sides to translate diplomatic goodwill into concrete economic outcomes, paving the way for enhanced people-to-people ties, increased trade volumes, and collaborative growth in strategic sectors.
