Srimangal’s Pride: Rahat Baksh Elahi Becomes an American Doctor

NEW YORK — Rahat Baksh Elahi, a brilliant son of Srimangal currently residing in New York, has officially achieved his dream of becoming an American doctor.

Rahat is the only son of Mustaque Elahi Chemon, President of the Srimangal Association of USA Inc. and a prominent figure from Srimangal Municipality, and the grandson of the well-known Alhaj Alabaksh Ahmed.

Rahat Baksh Elahi graduated with honors from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. His achievement was officially recognized during the prestigious Match Day 2026 ceremony held on March 20th. Following this milestone, he is set to join Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, New York, as a Resident Physician.

A Legacy of Excellence
The Elahi family is beaming with pride at Rahat’s accomplishment. His parents expressed their deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for this success. Notably, Rahat follows in the footsteps of his elder sister, Tasmina Elahi Riya, who became a doctor in 2021 and is currently practicing Internal Medicine at UHS Hospital, Binghamton.

By having both children earn medical degrees in the United States, the Chemon-Elahi family has brought great honor to the Bangladeshi community abroad.
