JICA’s Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Yunus

Miyazaki Katsura, Executive Senior Vice President, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has met with Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser, Interim Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, on July 3, 2025, in Dhaka.
Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki explained that she has visited Bangladesh for the first time. She has visited the country to attend the memorial ceremony held on July 2 to commemorate 7 Japanese citizens who lost their lives in the 2016 Dhaka Terrorist Attack, and to deepen JICA’s ties with Bangladesh furthermore.
Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus extended his condolences to the victims of the Holy Artisan incident. Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus expressed he will work on the development of Bangladesh with their legacies in heart. He also expressed his appreciation and expectations for JICA’s cooperation in the advancement of Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Moheshkhali-Matabari Integrated Infrastructure Development Initiative (MIDI), and in the area of human development among others.
Executive Senior Vice president Ms. Miyazaki expressed JICA’s commitment to continued cooperation with Bangladesh, emphasizing Bangladesh’s importance as a major recipient of JICA’s assistance and as a key partner for JICA.  
Both parties further exchanged views on JICA’s cooperation with reforms by the interim government and the importance of human security.
During her visit, Ms. Miyazaki met with Mr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Honorable Adviser of Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Science & Technology; Mr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Honorable Adviser, Ministry of Planning; Mr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Honorable Adviser for Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Road Transport & Bridges, and Ministry of Railways; and Ms. Syeda Rizwana Hasan Honorable Advisor, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change & Ministry of Water Resources.
