Indian textiles smuggled to evade customs duties were seized.

A joint operation by the Coast Guard and police in Khatunganj, Chattogram, led to the seizure of a large quantity of Indian textiles and counterfeit goods worth 40 million taka, which were being smuggled to evade customs duties.

On Wednesday (January 28) morning, Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq provided this information.
He stated that based on secret information, it was discovered that a warehouse in Khatunganj under Kotwali police station in Chattogram was storing a large quantity of Indian textiles and counterfeit goods that were brought in evading customs duties.
Based on this information, a joint operation was conducted in the area on Monday, January 26, at 4 PM by the Coast Guard Base Chattogram and police.
During the operation, the warehouse was searched, and a large quantity of illegally imported Indian sarees, three-piece suits, glass bottles, plastic bottles, plastic sacks, counterfeit olive oil, materials for making olive oil, and bottle labels worth approximately 40 million taka were seized.
At the time, the illegal traders managed to escape upon sensing the presence of the joint forces, and no arrests could be made.
The seized evidence was handed over to Chattogram Customs for further legal action.
He further mentioned that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to curb smuggling.
